Isabelle Caro

For all of you who are not familiar with Isabelle, she was a french model who had severe anorexia.  I first saw her when she was doing a shockingly naked advertisement in Italy that read “No Anorexia.”  Isabelle spent her time attempting recovery and speaking out against anorexia.  if you’ve seen the add, you may not really be a fan.  She is emaciated in the add and you may think it promotes anorexia? or is too honest? NO.  Isabelle was setting an example for all of us who have been dealt this deathly disorder.  She knew what the disease had done to her.  She was attempting to recover, however i do not believe she was in treatment, and in my opinion, she was physically, if not also mentally, too sick to do it on her own.  Isabelle was an internally beautiful person.  What i will always remember about her is that she would draw freckles on her face.  When interviewed by Jessica Simpson, she said that she did this so that when people looked at her, their eyes would be drawn to her face, and not her sickly body.  I thought this was remarkable.  It was so creative and she had such a beautiful outlook on how people should look at one another.  See, of course Isabelle did not have this outlook her whole life, if she had then she would not have died on November 17, 2010.  In my eyes, Isabelle is a hero.  No, i am not saying for dying from her eating disorder, which some people consider an honorable death, but because she used the time she had during her recovery to speak out and raise awareness about this awful disease.
